Dallas Co Supervisors 10-17

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

During open forum, County Treasurer Mitch Hambleton gave a report on a record breaking day at the driver’s license station last Wednesday. He said they served 196 people during the day, which created some issues where customers at the Department of Motor Vehicles were having difficulty getting in and out. Hambleton has said in the past he would like to split to two departments because of the high traffic. Also during open forum, a representative of the Waukee Area Historical Society spoke about the 2018 Dallas County Historical Bike Ride, which will run through Adel and Redfield.

Next, the Board approved adding Central Bank as an official County depository, which will be used to deposit funds from the $22.9 million bond referendum for the new law enforcement center. That was followed by a human resources workshop with the Secondary Roads Department, where they held discussion about union issues, handbook concerns, and compensation time. Finally, the Supervisors approved the acceptance of a proposal to purchase $4 million in general obligation refunding capital loan notes, as well as a resolution to notify the bonding agents the County intends to pay it back early. The refunding was done through Northland Securities, and will save the County around $78,000 on this particular issuance.
