panoraThe Panora City Council met in regular session Monday.

The Council approved the second reading of an ordinance to make changes to the City’s parks and subsequently waived the third reading. The following changes are now in effect: parks are closed from 10pm-5am on Sunday-Thursday and 11pm-5am on Friday and Saturday, all animals are prohibited from ballfields, and there is no camping allowed at any of the city parks.

The Council also approved a sidewalk assessment for the City of Panora Sidewalk program. Police Chief Matt Reising informed the Council that one of officers sustained a non-work related injury that will sideline the officer for four months. The department will increase hours of part time employees as well as utilize the assistance of the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office while the injured officer recovers. This will cost the department an additional $10,000.
