acgcWhen the ACGC girls basketball team leaves the gym in Ogden tonight, one team will have a numeral in the win column. Both the Lady Chargers and the Lady Bulldogs have yet to record a victory this season. The girls game begins the doubleheader tonight in conference play.

Entering the game senior Morgan Meacham is averaging 12 points and nearly 15 rebounds per game, both team bests. Junior Sierra O’Brien is also averaging double digit scoring, with 11 points per game. The Lady Charger defense will have to shut down the talented senior Ashton Boggess.  Boggess is averaging 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game. Boggess has also hit four three pointers for the squad.

Heading into the game tonight, Head Coach Aaron Dose is hoping to develop not just skilled players physically, but mentally as well. “It’s a slow process, but we’re learning to increase our basketball I.Q. We’re trying to give them the decisions they’re going to actually see in a game. We’re giving them game-like drills. I think it’s going to improve as the season goes, but it’s not going to be an overnight thing.”

The Charger boys will immediately follow. The boys are coming off a disappointing 50-74 loss to Madrid. The Chargers were unable to pick up a win against Ogden last season. The Bulldogs also dropped their season opener at Woodward Academy.

You can catch both games on KKRF2, your home for Charger Basketball. The girls game starts at 6, followed immediately by the boys game. Pre-game coverage from Ogden starts at 5:45.
