Greene County High School’s tallest varsity basketball player had an impressive season debut as the Rams won at home vs. Gilbert by a 65-60 final. Coach Chris Nelson’s team is off until later this week when they’ll play on back-to-back nights against Heart of Iowa Activities Conference rivals Saydel and PCM (Monroe). Thursday means a trip to Des Moines and Friday is at home in the middle school gym.
Senior Wade Adcock measures somewhere between 6′ 4″ and 6′ 5″ and he was on the HOIAC all-conference second team following his junior campaign. Adcock opened the season with 13 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and a blocked shot. He made six of nine shots from the floor and was one of three from the free throw line before fouling out with just 18 seconds left to play.
Adcock was the lone Greene County player to make more than half of his shot attempts vs. Gilbert. The team was 23 of 48 from the floor including seven of 21 from three-point range, and 12 of the 18 foul shots were good.
Both the Thursday and Friday girl/boy doubleheaders can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
