acgcIf there was ever a rivalry week in high school basketball, this would be the one for ACGC. The Charger basketball teams will begin that week tonight hosting cross-county rival West Central Valley.

The Lady Chargers will begin the night against a talented senior power forward in Grace Dupuy. Dupuy is coming off a 24 point performance against Ankeny Christian Academy. The future Dubuque Spartan field thrower is averaging 15 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Fellow senior Kennedy Lose is also third in the West Central Activities Conference in three-pointers made, with 11. The Lady Chargers are coming off a tough loss at Ogden last Friday. However, Jadeyn Carrick recorded her first double-double with career highs in points (11) and rebounds (14). Olivia Laabs also got on the scoreboard for the first time this season with six points.

The Charger boys will meet a winless West Central Valley squad. The Wildcats have yet to finish a game within single digits this season, but have two players averaging over ten points per game. Head Coach Jake Mohling is optimistic with the Chargers’ game plan to come away with the win against the Wildcats. “If we can shut down their top two scorers, that would probably be what we aim to do. If we can put pressure on them both offensively and defensively, we’d like to see if we can make some runs there.”

The doubleheader starts tonight at 6 pm with the girls game, followed immediately by the boys. You can catch all the action tonight on True Country, K107.9. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:45.
