A holiday tradition continues into its sixth year with Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity’s Nativity Festival in Jefferson.

Associate Director Jeff Lamoureux says the Nativity Festival is the main fundraiser of the year to help support Helping Hand projects in Greene County. The event will be held at the First United Methodist Church starting at 3pm Sunday with the public display of nativity scenes, followed by the community Christmas concert at 4pm in the sanctuary.

Lamoureux says the Town and Country Band will perform selected tunes before the concert begins with the Greene County Singers. There will also be a saxophone ensemble from the Greene County High School band, a brass ensemble from the Central Christian Church, along with other acts like a special performance from one individual.

“We’re really excited to have Kyle Roeder, who is going to sing a couple of songs for us. Kyle Roeder is a baritone opera singer from Jefferson. He’s actually living back here now, and a recent Drake University graduate. (He has a) Very, very good voice and we’re really excited to have him.”

Around 5:15pm will be the soup supper and pie auction to round out the fundraiser. All activities at the Nativity Festival are available for a free-will offering.
