Over 150 people attended the Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity Nativity Festival in Jefferson Sunday evening.
The annual fundraiser for Greene County was held at the First United Methodist Church. One of the highlights of the event was the Christmas Community Concert. It featured performances from the Joyful Noise of the Presbyterian Church, a saxophone ensemble with the Greene County High School band students, Greene County High School Carolers, Studio 3:16 Brass Ensemble of the Central Christian Church, an original poem called “Still Always Still” by Tori Riley, the Greene County Community Singers and former Jefferson resident Kyle Roeder.

Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Erich Kretzinger talks about the most impressive part of the event.
“The musical talent. That’s the best part for me is the concert aspect and getting to hear all the different people, musically either vocal or instrumental. It’s just wonderful.”
Associate Director Jeff Lamoureux highlighted three individuals who were going off of the affiliate board. Those included: Harry Ahrenholtz, Gary Von Ahsen and Angie Jewitt. The event wrapped up with a soup supper and pie auction. All proceeds from the Nativity Festival go back to Greene County housing projects with Habitat.
