Rep-David-Young-HeadshotToday the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will vote on a landmark plan to end net neutrality. The 2015 regulations were aimed at providing a fair and balanced internet for Americans. If passed, the new regulations would remove rules barring businesses from slowing down or blocking certain internet content and could lead to separate charges for social media and other web-based applications.

U.S. Congressman David Young gives his thoughts on the proposed plan. “I’m in favor of an open and free internet. We want to make sure we get any barriers out of the way for our telco’s like in Panora and other parts of rural Iowa to grow and give service to those who need it. ”

Panora Telco and Guthrie Center Communications would be among the businesses affected by the new regulations. The vote takes place during the FCC’s regular session from 10:30 am to 12: 30 pm (ET).
