Earlier this month, five Perry High School students participated in the annual Drake Honor Band Festival in Des Moines.

The students were chosen out of a pool of 340 applicants from 41 schools across the state to take part in the two-day event on December 1st and 2nd. Band Director Brad Sparks says the students worked with world-renowned conductors over the two days, and put the music together for a concert held at Drake University. Additionally, they received clinics on their specific instruments with faculty from the college.

Participants from Perry included Miguel Constanza, Vivian Gonzalez, Sarah Vaughn, and Fatima Rodriguez in the honors concert band, and Breanna Penenger in the honors wind ensemble.
