Landus Cooperative is reminding everyone to register for this year’s women in ag event that will take place in West Des Moines next month.
The weekend event, “Ventures: Connections and Conversations in Ag,” will take place January 5th and 6th at the Drury Inn and Suites. Friday, January 5th is registrations and a social time from 6:30 to 8pm, where participants can learn about Iowa’s vineyards and brewery while sampling some of the various beverages.
Saturday, January 6th is a full day of educational opportunities. The morning session starts at 8:30am, with a workshop on how to have difficult conversations with problematic people. Then there’s a break time to networking, leading up to the first breakout sessions at 10:30am. Women can learn about: grain contract; estate planning; establishing economic stability with agronomic insight; and workman’s compensation, insurance and liability coverage.
Lunch will feature a guest speaker from Paton. Sue Tronchetti is the first female member of the Landus Cooperative Board of Directors and she’ll talk about women taking the lead in agriculture. Following lunch will be a general session at 12:30pm with Megan Holz from Grand Junction serving on a panel for “What I Wish I Had Known” and how to handle managing an entire farm operation.
The afternoon sessions begin at 2:15pm. The sessions include: advanced grain contracts, estate planning, best practices for livestock health and security, and managing tough financial conversations.
Early bird registrations for Landus Cooperative members is $40 by tomorrow or $100 for non-members. A link to the registration form can be found below.
