Guthrie County Courthouse FallAs the year comes to a close with no snow on the ground, Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern is relieved to get a little rest. Sebern and his crew have certainly had a productive 2017, completing several county projects. The projects included: blacktop resurfacing of  P18 near Bagley, plus bridge repairs, and culvert conversion projects.

Additionally, Secondary Roads added the Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management Department, which was previously under the Conservation Department’s domain. Sebern explains what that department entails. “We’ve aggressively been going after brush, seeding, erosion control, and also spraying weeds. It’s been a great program and we’ve accomplished a lot in the first year.”

As far as next year’s projects are concerned, Sebern is focused on continuing culvert conversion projects as well as erosion control funded by Hungry Canyons Alliance grants. Sebern mentioned water and soil erosion have contributed to several bridges losing shape and stability, so he’s excited to see these issues rectified. To hear more from Sebern, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
