It’s a regular season Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy basketball doubleheader for the Greene County and North Polk (Alleman) teams. That’s about all that’s regular about the action today as the teams play in Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena, the home of the Iowa Wolves, and of the Iowa High School State Tournaments. Even the game times are different from the norm, as the girls play at 2 p.m. and the boys at approximately 3:30 p.m. The Iowa Wolves play the Northern Arizona Suns tonight at 7 p.m. at “The Well.”
The NP girls moved up to the number 12 spot in yesterday’s Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Class 3A rankings. The Comets are 6-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play while Coach Dean Lyons’ Rams are 3-3 overall and 1-3 int he conference.
The Greene County boys are 3-1 overall and in conference play under the direction of head coach Chris Nelson. The Comets are 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the league. Both teams are coming off Tuesday night victories; the Rams at home vs. Roland-Story (Story City) and the Comets on their home floor vs. Saydel (Des Moines).
Both high school games will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage around 1:40 p.m.
