Another evening of pressure defense led to another victory Friday night for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball team (2-5 overall). The Tigers welcomed the Perry Jayettes to town for a Raccoon River Conference rivalry showdown. ADM held Perry scoreless for over 13 minutes of game time, tallying 14 steals in a 38-14 victory over the Jayettes. Tied at seven midway through the second quarter, ADM went on a 16-0 run that went on until the first minute of the fourth quarter, to help the Tigers to victory. ADM girls basketball coach Rick Dillinger says the lockdown stretch defensively was due to great effort. “The kids have been buying into what we are trying to do (defensively), and we are getting better at it,” Dillinger said, “They are understanding the help concept as far as our man to man concept and our kids had nice defensive slides to cut their players off.”
The Tigers had nine players record at least two points in the win. Sophomore Abbie Hlas ended the game with 11 points, four assists, and four steals. Junior Emma Jacobsen added nine points and five rebounds. The result improves ADM’s overall record to 2-5 and 1-2 in the Raccoon River Conference.
The ADM boys basketball dropped their second straight conference game at home by a score of 59-45. Junior Koby Hardcastle ended the game with a team-best 14 points. The loss drops ADM’s overall record to 2-3, and they are winless in three Raccoon River Conference games this winter. Both ADM basketball teams are back on the court this afternoon, hosting the Gilbert Tigers in a nonconference varsity doubleheader.
