Greene County Development Corporation met Tuesday for the final time in 2017.
President Sid Jones gave an update on the Greene County School District bond referendum. He said they are still organizing small group meetings and putting together a video for people to learn about the project and give their feedback as to what they would like to see built for a regional academy and new high school.
Jefferson Building Inspector Nick Sorensen gave a housing update. He said the Laborers’ Housing Development Corporation didn’t get their application submitted by the deadline to apply for low-to-moderate income housing federal tax credits to build an apartment complex on GCDC’s east business park. There was a $640,000 gap that couldn’t be closed before the application could be submitted.
Executive Director Ken Paxton then gave his report. He said the Vision 2020 Steering Committee is meeting later this month to put final plans together to combine several of the top ten projects included in the overall vision. Business plans are also being finalized for a brew pub and housing project in Paton. He also reported that JCorporation is moving forward to apply for workforce housing credits to close the financial gap to build a 16-unit apartment complex by the water tower in Jefferson.
