Freshman Maggie Phipps scored 25 points in about 2-1/2 quarters of playing time and Class 3A number 12 North Polk (Alleman) easily defeated Greene County 62-23 inside Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Friday afternoon on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Comets improved to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play while the Rams fell to 1-4 in the league and 3-4 overall.

Greene County had just one point until senior Laurin Lyons made a three-point shot with 1:10 to play in opening period. The Rams trailed 18-4 after one quarter and 37-10 at intermission. The Comets played all 13 players suited for the game in both halves and the final margin was the largest of the game.

Lyons had 11 points for the Rams and senior Samantha Hardaway added seven points.
