The Panorama Panthers boys and girls basketball teams split a doubleheader with Van Meter Friday night in Panora.

In the girls game, Panorama rolled over a solid Van Meter group by a score of 44-24.

It was a bit of an off night for the Panthers offense, but the defense was up to its normal form. Van Meter was held scoreless until a minute into the second quarter. Hope Wilderman, usually a heavy contributor on the defensive end for Panora, lead all scorers in the contest with 12. Also in double digits for the Panthers; Morgan Johnk with 11, and Devyn Kemble with 10.

In the boys game, Van Meter opened up a double-digit lead early and kept it for most of the evening. The Panthers were able to make a run or two in the second half, but every time they started to close the gap, Van Meter was able to come up with a basket to halt the momentum. The result was a 61-47 Van Meter win.

Van Meters Ryan Schmitt and Panoramas Gracen Welberg lead all scorers with 16 points. Other key contributors for the Panthers included Blaine Barber with 10 points and Michael Allen with 11 points. The Panorama girls move to 9-1 on the season, while the boys drop to 1-6.
