The Stuart City Council will meet in a special session Monday.
The Council will begin the meeting with an update on the hiring of a new Economic Development Director. At the previous meeting the council moved to continue with the hiring process after narrowing down the search to three final candidates. The Council has a recommended candidate in mind, but did not disclose that information at the previous meeting.
Depot Committee Spokesperson Doris Bench will also make another presentation to the Council. On behalf of the committee, Bench would like to hire current Stuart Chamber of Commerce Director Brenda Dudley as the new Depot Manager. However, the Council would rather see a city employee in that position.
The Council will also continue the progress on Phase II of the Wambold Addition. City Engineer Forrest Aldrich will make a presentation and then the Council will hold a public hearing. Following the hearing, the Council will take formal action on two resolutions relating to the second addition. The first would approve plans, specifications, an estimated cost, and the contract’s format. The second would award the official contract.
Other action items include: city aesthetics, an easement discussion, and debt service levy reductions. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers in Stuart City Hall.
