The Jefferson Police Department is investigating an incident where a credit card skimmer was used. Staff at a local gas station reported a credit card skimmer in of their fuel pumps at 9am Monday. According to the department, the device was removed from the pump and sent to a task force with the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation to obtain forensic evidence.
The skimmer is installed by opening the front of the gas pump and attaching the device. On the front of the pump is a “sealed” sticker. If that sticker is broken, you are to contact the manager of the business as well as the Jefferson Police Department on their non-emergency number at 386-2136.
