Wells Fargo Crash

The Perry Police Department was called to Wells Fargo Bank Monday, after a vehicle crashed into the building.

At around 11:40 a.m., a Saturn Vue SUV jumped the curb on the north side of the bank, and crashed through an office window. No one was inside the office at the time, and there were no injuries to the Wells Fargo employees or the vehicle’s passenger. Sergeant Jim Archer investigated the incident, and told Raccoon Valley Radio the driver, Woldegiorgis Tsige of Perry, was very ill at the time of the wreck. He was reportedly heading home after leaving the Tyson Foods plant early due to the illness, and attempted to pull over in the street parking because he was about to vomit. Archer said it appeared instead of hitting the breaks he hit the gas, which led to the crash.

The Police Department was aided in the incident by an interpreter from Tyson, as Tsige spoke little English. Archer said he didn’t believe there would be any citations issued, as it was evident it was merely an accident.
