It’s only been a few days since the Hollingsworth family was struck by tragedy, and people have already started to offer their support.
The rural Dallas County home of Jon and Tiffany Hollingsworth caught fire early on Christmas Eve, and the family lost their house, many of their possessions, and their family pets. In response, a GoFundMe page was set up for them, and it quickly exceeded its $7,500 goal. The donations continue to pour in for the family of three, as friends and strangers alike have rallied to help them recover from their holiday tragedy.
The incident happened at just after 5 a.m. Christmas Eve, when a fire in the attached garage spread quickly to the rest of the house. Jon, Tiffany, and their 3-year-old son Jaxson were able to evacuate the house unharmed. When the Perry and Dawson Fire Departments arrived the garage was already destroyed, but they were able to fight the fire to the rest of the house enough to get many of the family’s personal items out. Perry Fire Chief Chris Hinds told Raccoon Valley Radio that his firefighters were able to retrieve everything the Hollingsworths deemed of great importance, including all their Christmas presents, before the roof collapsed.
The cause of the fire is speculated to be a heated dog pad in the garage, though Hinds said it will be impossible to know for sure, given the destruction of the garage. Both the house and garage were declared total losses. For a link to the GoFundMe page, click the link below.
