West Central Valley Wildcat

A handful of West Central Valley Wildcat wrestlers will enter the new year with a double-digit win total. The Wildcats wrapped up the 2017 portion of their schedule on December 19 in Des Moines, grappling the Des Moines Lincoln Scarletts and the Des Moines Hoover Huskies in a nonconference triangular. West Central Valley lost to Lincoln (55-24) and defeated Hoover (48-27), pushing their dual record to 10-5.

Six Wildcat wrestlers will start the new year with at least 10 wins under their belt, including two grapplers with 15 wins before January. Junior Carson Wadle (182; 15-2) and Justin Garcia (126; 15-3) have each tallied 15 wins in their respective weight classes. Seniors Tye Joint (145; 10-2), Riley Algreen (195; 10-7), and Alex Wells (285; 10-7) along with junior Cole Sackett (152; 10-7) are the other Wildcat wrestlers who recorded 10 wins in 2017. No West Central Valley wrestlers are currently ranked in the latest Class 1A poll put out by the Predicament before the start of Christmas.

The West Central Valley Wildcat wrestling team resumes their season on Thursday, January 4, hosting a nonconference triangular against Logan-Magnolia and Tri-Center.
