The Guthrie Center City Council met for the first time in 2018, Monday evening.
The main topic of discussion revolved around snow removal enforcement, particularly for sidewalks. City Compliance Officer Wes Clark and other members of the Council have noticed several residents and downtown businesses failing to remove snow from their respective sidewalks and properties. The Council will consult other cities’ ordinances to see if a change in the code may be beneficial.
The Council also examined two bids for the property at 207 North 7th Street. Of the two bids, the highest was $1,500. The Council then set a public hearing, for the next meeting, to officially sell the property. Additionally the Council approved a funding request from Midwest Partnership for $3,336 and changed the City’s official newspaper from the Guthrie Center Times to the Bayard News Gazette.
