acgcAs a sophomore Jadeyn Carrick scored just 21 points last season. Last night Carrick dropped 22, the most ever by a Charger girl in a single game, leading all scores and the Chargers to their second win of the season. The Charger girls defeated the Ogden Bulldogs 54-48 and improve to 2-12 on the season. After trailing by two in the first quarter, the Chargers took a 29-25 lead into the locker room and never gave up the lead again.

Senior Mady Smith reclaimed her game, scoring ten points. This was Smith’s first double-digit performance since her season high 15 against Van Meter. Savanna Fuller was also a key defender, collecting nine rebounds, two steals, and a block. Sierra O’Brien finished with six points and Jorja Hoover recorded eight points for the Charger girls. Ogden senior Ashton Boggess led all Bulldogs with 18 points, while junior Abby Langel contributed well from the three-point line to keep Ogden in the game.

The Charger boys started off their game similarly to the one on Tuesday in Madrid. The boys played a good first half, trailing by just seven going into the half. But the Bulldog starters blitzed the Chargers in the third quarter, extending the lead to 13. While ACGC mounted a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to five, the Bulldogs ended the night victorius, clincing a 77-67 win. Senior Noah Snedden led all scores with 24 points and junior Ben Heeren added 21 for the Bulldogs. Caden Wardyn led all Chargers with 20, while Quynton Younker’s four made three-pointers contributed to 15 points on the night.

The Chargers fall to 3-11 on the season and have now lost nine straight games. Both teams will head to Stuart on Tuesday to wrangle with the Wildcats of West Central Valley in a cross-county showdown.
