A plan for a veterans memorial wall near the current monument at the Guthrie County Courthouse continues to take shape this year. Members of the Guthrie County Veterans Memorial Committee presented the plan to the Board of Supervisors in October, which the Board approved.

The plans include eight black granite slabs with names of veterans from all ages and branches of service. Members of the National Guard and the Reserves will also be listed. Eligible names must come from residents in Guthrie County or those with any other direct connection to the area. Applications for names to be placed on the wall are available on the Johnson Family Funeral Home website. The application must be filled out completely and include a copy of the veteran’s DD214. Applications are due by August 1st and, along with a fee of $30 per name.
