2018 is an important election year in Iowa, and that all starts with the upcoming Iowa Caucuses.
Odds are when you think of the Caucuses, Presidential elections come to mind, but they are held every even year. The Democratic and Republican parties of Iowa will both hold their caucus on Monday, February 5th, though there will be different locations for each party. For democrats there are two locations for our Dallas County listening area: if your voting precinct is Perry 1, 2, or 3, Spring Valley/Dallas, or Lincoln/Washington/Linn, your caucus location is the Perry Public Library; if you’re in Adams, Adel 1 or 2, Colfax/Adel, DeSoto, Sugar Grove/Dallas Center, or Union, your location is Grace Lutheran Church in Adel.
For republicans, there are several locations: Perry 1, 2, or 3, and Spring Valley/Dallas precincts will report to the McCreary Community Building; Adel 1 or 2, and Colfax/Adel will caucus at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School; Adams will report to Crossroads Church in Earlham; DeSoto will convene in the Council Room at DeSoto City Hall; the Lincoln/Washington/Linn precinct will caucus at the Washington Township School; Sugar Grove/Dallas Center will meet at Memorial Hall in Dallas Center; and the Union precinct will report to the Dexter Roundhouse.
Each location will open at 5:45 p.m. for check-in and registration, with the caucusing starting at 6:30 p.m. You must be registered with your chosen party in order to caucus.
