The Greene County High School basketball teams are in the midst of a road trip that continues tonight. The Rams play make up games in Winterset after the Jan. 15 non-conference girl/boy doubleheader was weathered out. Both games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow.

The Winterset girls are 7-4 on the season and are led in scoring by 6′ 3″ junior Madison Wauters with 13.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. The Huskies average nearly 45 points per game while the Rams are scoring at just a 35 point pace. Greene County is 5-10 on the season and leading scorer senior Laurin Lyons is at 11 points a game.

The Winterset boys are leading the Raccoon River Activities Conference and they stand at 9-3 overall. Guards Easton Darling and Casey Kleemeier lead the way by scoring 15.3 and 14.4 points per game, respectively. Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams are coming off a big road win Saturday at Webster City, 70-65, and are 9-5 overall. Junior Trey Hinote averages 17 points a game with senior Wade Adcock at 14, senior Joe Towers at 11, and junior Lance Hughes scoring nine per contest.

Greene County stays on the road for two more girl/boy doubleheaders this week, both in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The Rams go to Story City tomorrow night to face Roland-Story, then travel to Alleman on Friday against the North Polk teams.
