On December 4, 2017, two employees at the Tyson Foods plant in Perry suffered severe burns in a workplace accident. This Saturday, the community is invited to a benefit for the victims and their families.
Aaron Francis and Andrew Stringer had to be flown by air ambulance to the University of Iowa Burn Treatment Center in Iowa City after suffering steam burns all over their bodies. To help the two men and their families as they continue along the road to recovery, the Perry Elks Lodge will host a pulled pork dinner Saturday from 5-8 p.m. There will be pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, chips, and drinks available in exchange for donations. All proceeds will go towards the Francis and Stringer families.
Additionally, organizers for the event are still looking for dessert and salad donations. To help out, call the Elks Lodge at 515-465-3791 weekdays after 6 p.m. Items will need to be delivered to the Lodge by 3 p.m. on Saturday.
