At their final meeting of 2017, the Perry City Council approved a grant application for leadership training through Des Moines Area Community College for the Iowa Jobs Training program.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says the program is intended to help the City’s department heads develop their leadership skills. They had their first class earlier in January, and Peterson says everyone’s initial response was overwhelmingly positive. “I had several people come up to me afterwards, and they said ‘I’ve been to this kind of leadership stuff before, and it’s never really that great. But this was awesome!’ So I’m really excited to be able to keep going forward with that.”

Peterson says they’ll have classes about every other month through September, and he’s hoping they will help build the cohesiveness of the City employees.
