A Jefferson man faces a felony drug charge.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Bradley Allen Conklin faces charges of a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court documents show that the charges stem from an alleged incident on Wednesday when the Jefferson Police Department assisted with a home visit with the Iowa Department of Human Services, after receiving information about possible drug activity with a child in the residence. When the officer arrived at the suspect’s home in the 100 block of East Central Street at 2:44pm, a female child answered the door and said Conklin drove to a friend’s house. As the officer and DHS representative were making contact with Conklin, he was arriving at his house. The officer knew Conklin had his driving privileges barred. Conklin knew that as well.

Following the conversation, Conklin gave consent to the officer and DHS representative to search his home for drugs. They located several glass smoking devices and a bag with a green leafy substance inside the home. The substance was tested with the Narcotic Identification System and it tested positive for marijuana. The drug-related items were then removed.

Conklin was arrested and booked into the Greene County jail. He was later released on his own recognisance. Conklin was previously convicted of possession of a controlled substance charge from 2002 to 2017 including in Dallas, Audubon, Carroll and Guthrie counties.
