One Guthrie County wrestling squad continues to impress the voters of the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials (IWCOA) Dual Team rankings. The second edition of the IWCOA Dual rankings was released to the public Wednesday, and the Panorama Panthers wrestling team improved four spots to No. 12 in the Class 1A poll. The Panthers dual record sits at 16-2 entering the final week of the regular season. Panorama head coach Jason Kirtley tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the squad made their first-ever appearance in the IWCOA rankings earlier this season when the Panthers was rated the 16th best dual squad.

The Panthers resumes their dual season tonight when they host nonconference foes Lynnville-Sully, North Polk, and Pleasantville. Kirtley was a guest on this week’s Karl Chevrolet of Stuart and said they are doing things a little differently with this meet. “For the first time ever, we are going to have walk out music playing when we announce the weights,” Kirtley said, “This is for all schools involved, and (we’re) trying to get it to be an awesome environment to be. People want to come here and will give us a chance at hosting more meets.”

Tonight’s quadrangular dual event starts at 5:30 p.m. at Panorama High School.
