Greene County Supervisors 1_25The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Thursday.

The Board approved a Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation grant application and financial commitment to repair the elevator in the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower. County Engineer Wade Weiss talked about the details of the possible project.

“It’s basically replacing all of the mechanical and electrical system. The elevator will look very similar to what it does now, the car. Everything, the hoisting equipment and tracking wheels that are kind of to keep the car configured in the right way (will also be replaced).”

The estimated cost of the project is $98,536. The Supervisors agreed to match $25,000, along with another $25,000 match from the Bell Tower Community Foundation, the grant would be for the final $48,356.

The Board then heard 2019 fiscal year budget proposals from: the Informational Technology and Data Processing Department, Drainage Clerk, County Recorder, County Veterans Affairs and General Assistance Department and Secondary Roads Department. The Board took no action on any of the proposals. The Board also tabled their decision on an application to the Greene County Community Foundation, pending further review.

During open forum, the Board discussed the proposed 28E agreement for a new animal shelter. The Board is expected to vote on the proposal at their February 8th meeting.
