The Perry and ADM basketball teams will play a basketball game tonight but its the cause behind the game that will generate a lot of attention. Tonight’s game marks the annual Coaches versus Cancer Classic. Each year, Perry picks one game to try and generate as much money and awareness toward a disease that affects virtually everyone in one capacity or another. Perry has held various fundraisers this week at school and the week will climax tonight with festivities during the basketball game. The highlight of the night is sure to be the keynote speaker Kirk Van Kirk with the Progressive Foundry. Van Kirk’s family was recognized in 2017 for the contributions the family has made with their family owned business Progressive Foundry. Van Kirk is a cancer survivor and will tell his brave tale of courage, determination and fortitude. There will be a 90 second drill in which cheerleaders will collect as many donations from fans during the 90 second time limit. A Wall of Remembrance for those loved ones we have lost to the deadly disease will be posted underneath a hoop along with various public service messages throughout the night. KDLS will have live coverage of the event including Van Kirk’s talk in between games. Shawn Kenney and Ned Menke will have the call of both games on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
