Ann HeuerGreene County Extension recently added a new staff member.

Ann Heuer is the new Nutrition and Wellness Specialist and Human Sciences Specialist. She grew up in Waterloo. She received her bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in dietetics and worked as a registered dietitian. She completed her internship and master’s program at Western Carolina University. She earned her master’s degree in health science with a focus in nutrition. Before coming to Jefferson, Heuer worked with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program in Des Moines.

Heuer says she has prior experience with ISU Extension and Outreach.

“So I actually worked for Extension part-time when I was in college (at ISU). I worked on different nutrition activities for older adults. I really liked my time getting to do that and I really wanted to eventually someday work for Extension. So when this position came open I was really excited about it.”

She will serve a 13-county region including: Guthrie, Audubon, Carroll, Shelby, Crawford, Sac, Ida, Pocahontas, Calhoun, Cherokee and Buena Vista counties. Heuer’s main office will be in Jefferson at Greene County Extension.
