The Bell Tower Community Foundation had a marquee year in 2017.

The biggest accomplishment was having the full four-octave, 47-bell carillon installed on top of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower. The total cost of the project was $440,000. From that, 30 local residents played daily concerts on the bells over the lunch hour for three months .

The Bell Tower Community Foundation also received a $2,750 donation from Beta Tau Delta to be the sponsor for free youth admissions to the bell tower. Over $10,000 was generated through tourism income. President Carole Custer said at a Greene County Supervisors meeting that they received hotel/motel grant funds through the City of Jefferson for billboard advertisements in Ogden and Carroll, on Highway 30. Most recently, they received additional hotel/motel grant funds for a billboard near Perry on Highway 141.

Plans for this year include: a history of the bell tower on a plaque, along with a donor wall noting the inscriptions that are on each of the bells.
