On Thursday, the Iowa HIgh School Athletic Association released the District football assignments for each class. ACGC remains in Class 1A, however, for the next two years the Chargers will have some new opponents and two guaranteed Guthrie County showdowns. The IHSAA placed ACGC in District 8, along with: Panorama, West Central Valley, Clarinda, Mount Ayr, and defending state champions Van Meter.

There are a total of 54 schools in Class 1A. The class was split into nine districts, with six teams occupying each district. The Chargers will not play a single district team they played the last two seasons. The West Central Valley Wildcats are the only guaranteed team the Chargers have played against as Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center. ACGC recently hired Cody Matthewson as the second head coach in Charger football program history. Matthewson takes over for Mark McDermott, who resigned in November.
