american_heart_association_logo_3408It’s that time of year again, where youngsters participate in fighting heart disease and stroke.

Greene County students in second through sixth grades are once again participating in the Jump Rope/Hoops For Heart fundraising campaign. From January 29th until February 12th, students will be raising funds for the American Heart Association. Additionally, all second through sixth graders will learn about heart-healthy exercises, along with how community service and volunteerism is beneficial for everyone.

Funds will be used for cardiovascular disease research and public and professional education programs. As a result from fundraising opportunities, there have been many lifesaving discoveries such as: CPR, pacemakers, bypass surgeries, open heart surgeries, artificial heart valves, microsurgery, life-extending drug treatments and Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs).

Jump Rope/Hoops For Heart is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
