A unique program is coming to Perry towards the end of February, and if you’ve ever wanted to see a man break a dozen concrete blocks with his forearm, it will be right up your alley.
Steve Carrier has been on ESPN’s “World’s Strongest Man” competition, America’s Got Talent, and holds a Guinness World Record for breaking baseball bats over his leg. He’ll be bringing his “Mega Force” program to Crossroads Church and area schools to show people feats of strength and give them important life lessons. He explains, “Most people would ask, ‘Why in the world would a pastor of a church bring a guy to bust bricks, rip phone books, snap baseball bats, roll-up frying pans, into their church and make a mess on their stage?’ Well, it really draws attention. It draws people, kind of into a church setting that would never really darken the door of a church, and hear a message that will be life-changing. So it’s very entertaining, but yet there’s a really life-changing message that I believe will stay with them long after I leave.”
Carrier says the message he’ll be conveying is one of believing in yourself, as well as being kind to others. He emphasizes that words can be more powerful than muscles, and that a bully can do more harm to a person than a stack of bricks. The Mega Force program is free and will be held from February 18-21, with the evening programs starting at 7 p.m. at Crossroads Church.
