Some of the best football programs in southwest Iowa are the opponents featured in the newest district grouping for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football team. The Iowa High School Athletic Association released the newest football districts for all classes late last week, and the ADM Tigers find themselves in the Class 3A District 9. The other teams inside the district with ADM are Creston, Glenwood, Harlan, Lewis Central, and Winterset. The five schools combined record last year was 35 wins and 16 losses with three schools playing in the playoffs. Lewis Central played in the Class 4A playoffs in 2017, while Glenwood and Harlan qualified for the postseason in Class 3A.
ADM athletic director Reese Satre doesn’t have a new head football coach in place at the moment, but the new man in charge will have a challenging schedule his first two seasons. “If you want to play in a big game and you want to get some press, start knocking people off in our district that we’ve got and you’ll get some publicity.” Satre said, “There’s some challenges but also some opportunities there.”
Satre’s focus now shifts to filling out the schools four nondistrict games for the next two seasons. The district needs to have a list of up to seven schools they’d like to play in football to the Iowa High School Athletic Association by no later than midnight on Wednesday, February 7.
