Postseason girls basketball will start this weekend across the state, and the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers squad has one more tune-up before their playoff run. Weather permitting, the ADM Tiger basketball teams will celebrate the seniors tonight when the Boone Toreadors travel to Dallas County to close the Raccoon River Conference season. The Toreadors swept the first varsity doubleheader against ADM in Boone on January 12, winning the girls contest 74-48 and the boys game, 65-53.
After tonight the ADM girls basketball team begins their postseason run in Madison County in the Class 4A Region 8 tournament against the Winterset Huskies (12-6 overall). Their last meeting provided one of the most exciting finishes to a Raccoon River Conference game this season. Tied at 48 with less than 10 seconds remaining in regulation, ADM junior Anna Kenny jumped the passing lane and poked the ball into the Tigers offensive end. Kenny raced down the floor, came up with possession, and had just enough time to put the game-winning layup off the glass as time expired. The two teams have headed in opposite directions since that night. ADM has split their four previous games while Winterset has won five straight games by an average margin of 13 points. ADM will honor the career of their only senior, Kaylyn Nordman, during tonight’s game with the Toreadors.
The ADM boys basketball team has several seniors they’ll recognize tonight in their final home conference game. This year’s ADM boys basketball seniors include Grant Curran, Zach Ferguson, Rylan Heffernan, Dalton Hews, Caleb Herrick, Cole Knoll, Cade Stine-Smith, Trey Volz, and Zach Klocke. Listen to ADM’s varsity basketball games tonight on True Country K 107.9 and worldwide at raccoonvalleyradio.com and on the KKRF mobile app. The Lincoln Savings Bank Pregame Show starts around 5:40 p.m. and tip-off of the girls game is set for 6 p.m.
