DCC Skull

Dallas County Conservation will be hosting “Skull Saturday” tomorrow at the Kuehn Conservation area.

Attendees can come and go as they please for the free event between 1-3 p.m., and no registration is required. Forest Park Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says the program will be a good primer for one of their upcoming exhibits. “One of our staff, ‘Critter’ Cindy (Blobaum), has been working really hard on getting a skull exhibit going at Forest Park, which will be our summer exhibit for up there, it’ll be great. But she’s going to feature a lot of these skulls, the hands-on ones, at Kuehn Conservation Area. You can also bring any skull you found within Dallas County, and get some help in ID’ing it.”

Naturalist “Critter” Cindy Blobaum will be leading the program, and she’ll teach attendees about what animal skulls can tell us about how they lived. An assortment of skulls will be provided, including a special, partially-fossilized skull of a wooly mammoth, which was found near Perry.
