Members of Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center’s first ever Large Group All State Speech Festival entry are excited to represent their school. The group mime entry will present, “Inside the Shh! Cool Library” this Saturday at Iowa State University in Ames.
The six participants had a variety of reactions when they heard they would be performing at the festival. While some were on their couch, senior Haeleigh Busse shared her unique reaction. “I was at work and Kelbie (another performer) called me. I started crying on the phone and there was a line of customers.”
The students are looking forward to performing at the festival this weekend. But as senior Hunter Vasey explains, they’re also looking forward to interacting with students from other schools. “I want to see some other groups that made it and see how we stack up to them and if they are as prepared as us or if we can take any hints from them. We never really thought that we would get this far. It’s pretty crazy.”
The students are thankful for the support from the community and Head Coach, Kelsey Moran. They will perform at approximately 3:30pm Saturday in the Scheman Building at Iowa State University. Dr. Patricia Downey, Coordinator of Dance Studies at the University of South Dakota, will serve as the Critic Judge. To hear more from the performers, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
