After over two decades of stability, Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is still looking for their next 4-H and Youth Coordinator. The current coordinator, Donna Wallace, is retiring at the end of the month after 23-years of service.
Extension Office Manager Deena Wells shares some qualities the next coordinator will need to have to be successful at the position. “The new hire would need to possess a really good communication skill ability. Be well organized. Be able to work with kids of all ages and their families. Be able to give presentations and workshops and not be afraid to speak in public. There’s just a lot of organizational skills that are involved with this particular position because it oversees all facets of the 4-H program.”
Wells adds that Wallace’s extensive work to build the program has heavily influenced this position’s progression. She also says the candidate should have good computer skills and be comfortable in large group settings. The deadline to apply for this position is this Friday.
