Greene County is one of eight boys’ basketball teams vying for the Substate 8 crown in Class 2A. The Substate 8 winner advances to the State Tournament in early March at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Treynor from the Western Iowa Conference has the best record of the remaining eight teams at 21-0. The next best record belongs to West Central Activities Conference member Des Moines Christian, Greene County’s opponent tomorrow night. The Lions are 19-2. Then, in descending order, it’s AHSTW (Avoca) at 16-6, Woodward Academy 14-7, Underwood 14-8, Woodward-Granger 13-9, Greene County 12-10, and 7-15 Clarinda.
In addition to the Rams playing DMC on the Lions’ home floor in Urbandale at 8 p.m., the other District 15 semifinal is at 6:30 p.m. at DMC with Woodward-Granger meeting Woodward Academy.
In District 16, It’s Underwood vs. AHSTW at 6:30 p.m. and Treynor vs. Clarinda at 8 p.m. Both of those games are in Treynor.
