Dallas Co Supervisors 1-9

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

The meeting began with the canvass of the vote from the recent Waukee school special election, which passed with over 90% approval. Next, the Board approved a vehicle purchase request from the Sheriff’s Office for a 2018 Dodge Durango for $20,197 after trade-in, to be used as an unmarked detective vehicle. At 9:30 and 9:45 a.m., the Supervisors held two public hearings to discuss property rezoning. The first was for three acres in Spring Valley Township, changing from agricultural to residential. The second was for 10 acres in Adel Township near River Valley Golf Course, changing from agricultural to planned unit development. No one spoke against the rezoning requests, so the Board approved both.

The Supervisors also approved other resolutions, including the placement of a memorial sign for two officers who died on Interstate 80 in Dallas County on March 26, 2016, the abatement of mobile home taxes, and a farm land lease in a wetland mitigation area near Bouton. The Board also tabled a resolution regarding a potential tax increment financing (TIF) area, that could result from Tyson Foods expanding their plant near Perry. Finally, the Supervisors went into a closed session to further discuss pending litigation. The meeting concluded with an informational workshop with the Human Resources Department.
