The Perry Public Library tries to keep as many things as possible free to their patrons, but there’s always a few things people are charged for, like fines or fax services.
To make things easier for visitors who need to pay for something, Library Director Mary Murphy says they recently started accepting payments by debit and credit cards. Murphy says many people, herself included, don’t normally carry cash, so offering the debit and credit option made a lot of sense. “We’ve had patrons come up and want to pay. And so we finally found a vendor that will work with us and is acceptable to the State of Iowa Auditor’s Office. And now we can accept your credit and debit cards. And so that’ll make your life easier if you come in the library and want to fax something, want to pay your fines, want to even buy discussion books.”
Murphy adds, there is a convenience fee charged by the processing vendor, so anyone wanting to pay with a card will be charged $1.50 plus 2.35% of their total purchase. Anyone with questions can stop by the library or call them at 515-465-3569.
