The Iowa high school winter sports season is in the midst of postseason action and state wrestling is just around the corner. Seven Guthrie County wrestlers qualified for the state tournament in Des Moines starting tomorrow. All seven qualified out of the District 1 tournament Saturday in Guthrie Center.
Panorama qualified the most grapplers, with five. The state-bound wrestlers include: Danny Nordquist (126), Wyatt Appleseth (132), Gunnar Grunsted (170), Trevor Carey (182), and Dalton Holmes (195). All five finished in second place in their classes, which is good enough to advance as the top two of four in each class qualify. Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center and West Central Valley also secured one bid each after second place finishes. Seth Danker (106) will represent AC/GC, while Alex Wells (285) will represent West Central Valley.
Be sure to listen to Raccoon Valley Radio’s coverage of the tournament starting tomorrow.
