The lone state qualifying wrestler from West Central Valley will wait most of the day to make his appearance at Wells Fargo Arena. Senior Alex Wells (285) will close his high school career in Iowa’s annual state wrestling tournament after finishing second at districts Saturday in Guthrie Center. The Class 1A wrestling session doesn’t begin until 6 p.m. tonight and will feature first-round championship, and first-round consolation matches spread out amongst eight mats.
Wells brings a 31-18 record to the Well. His opening match will come against West Sioux senior Darlyn Marquez, posting a 35-2 overall. Listen to the Raccoon Valley Radio Network throughout the day for live play-by-play coverage of the game.
