ffaNational FFA Week begins tomorrow, but Greene County FFA will officially kick it off today with a special event.

A proclamation for National FFA Week will be signed by Greene County Schools Superintendent Tim Christensen later today. Greene County FFA Vice-President Ben Bravard says there are several activities planned next week for National FFA Week. Wednesday, FFA students can “Drive Your Tractor to School.” Then next Friday there will be a free-will donation pancake breakfast from 7 to 8:30am in Ram Restaurant, as well as an assembly where Bravard points out, a teacher will “Kiss a Pig.”

“We’re going to nominate some teachers that students in the school would vote on to kiss a pig. And then during that assembly, whatever teacher is chosen is going to kiss the pig in front of the whole school.”

Sophomore Kyle Hack explains why he joined FFA.

“(National) FFA Week is a great opportunity for FFA members to get out and have some fun. We get to kind of show off what we do, like driving our tractors to school, we get to kind of show off what kind of machinery we’ve got. I joined FFA just because I like to help the community and I always wanted to get into some of the farming background, being that I live out in the country. So it was a fun opportunity for me to get out and help the community.”

National FFA Week is from February 17th through the 24th.
