City of PatonA reminder that the Paton Firemen’s Stag fundraiser is happening tomorrow.

The event will be held at the fire station in Paton starting at 5pm. A grilled pork chop meal, which includes baked beans, potato salad and beverages, will be served, followed by casino games. There will be blackjack and craps available for people to enjoy. Plus, there will be a cash raffle and a gun raffle as well. All proceeds will go back to the fire department for equipment purchases.

Fire Chief Jonathan Marshall says some of the money they raise will go toward payments on a new attack truck they purchased last year. He talks about what some of the other money will be used for.

“Turnout gear. Our gear only lasts ten years. Every ten years it’s out of date and we have to replace it. That’s around $2,000 to $3,000 a firefighter. Right now we have 17 on the roster. Thank God we’ve got most of them ran through, and we’re only down to about a handful of guys left to get switched over.”

Tickets are $20 for the pork chop meal. Tickets are $15 for the cash raffle and $10 for the gun raffle. You can purchase tickets from any of the firefighters or at the door.
