
Day two of the Iowa State wrestling tournament will feature three Adel-Desoto-Minburn grapplers competing in the championship bracket. The trio of Tiger wrestlers including Andrew Flora (113), Nolan Harsh (152), and Kaden Sutton (220) all won their initial match Thursday morning at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Flora’s third appearance at the state tournament started with a first period pinfall (1:39) over Southwest Valley’s Coledon Bethel. His championship quarterfinal match takes place this morning against Osages Joe Sullivan. Sullivan won by fall in the second period (3:39) over West Burlington/Notre Dame/Danville’s Grifen Molle.
Harsh, another three-time state qualifier, had his match end late in the second period by technical fall (15-0; 3:55) against Garner-Hayfield-Ventura’s Jared Shaw. Today’s quarterfinal grapple comes against Spirit Lake’s Kyler Rieck, who advanced with a 6-4 decision win against Caleb Swalla of Van Meter/Earlham.
Sutton’s debut at the Iowa State Wrestling tournament went the full six minutes as he grinded out a 3-1 decision win over West Liberty’s Kobe Simon. His quarterfinal round takes place against Independence’s Hunter Crawford, who survived his initial match by ultimate tiebreaker, 3-2, against Chase Bellon of Knoxville.
